"I am a scholar, I enjoy scholarly pursuits."

I'm presently a Ph.D. candidate working in the lab of Dr. Joshua Voss at Florida Atlantic University Harbor Branch Oceanographic Institute. I am broadly interested in mesophotic coral ecosystems, their connectivity with shallow coral reefs, and how they differ in terms of community structure, population structure, symbioses, and biological processes.

I'm a Floridian, hailing from the Conch Republic. I grew up on the water, driving boats well before driving cars, and have been interested in marine science and conservation for as long as I can remember. I received my B.Sc. in Biological Sciences from Florida State University in 2009. After my undergraduate education I worked as a researcher at Flower Garden Banks National Marine Sanctuary. I left FGBNMS in 2017 to start graduate school at FAU-HBOI in the lab of Dr. Joshua Voss. In 2019 finished my M.Sc. where I examined genetic connectivity and algal symbiont assemblages of Montastraea cavernosa populations on the Belize Barrier Reef in 2019. After my Master's I happily continued on to pursue my Ph.D. in the Voss Lab where I am trying to better understand connectivity of MCEs and shallow reefs across the Tropical Western Atlantic.
Outside of diving and science I love coffee, craft beer, hardcore punk, cooking, woodworking, and fixing/creating things. |
